    As a #MastoAdmin, you highly underestimate the addictivity of the #Fediverse. I hear from the community over a two-minute downtime.

    These same folks are also have addictive tendancies to dihydrogen monoxide.

        @moralapostel @dansup @kdekooter @anatolegc

        Yet, here we are.

        Consider that the #fediverse is a third place for many, and allowing as many people as they see fit to interact with their third place only helps address the critical isolation crisis we see in many of our societies today.

        You have no business telling others how they should interact with their third place, unless it harms you. A dog filter isn't going to harm you.

        If you don't like it, you have very adequate timeline management and blocking tools at your disposal.

          @ditol @anatolegc In my opinion, this is the beginning of a slow dumbing down of the Fediverse. The Fediverse should be better than an unreflective continuation of dependency-creating platforms.

          @moralapostel
          Dumbing down? I always considered a platform for short posts of less that 500 or even 200 characters as extremely dumb and making users dumber. I was never on Twitter for that reason. And yet somehow Twitter was the preferred platform by people with academic degrees. Mastodon has been doing a limit of under 500 char. for years. The community only decided recently to... dumb up I guess.

          In short, I see this logic "dumb feature -> makes people dumb", but I have come to accept that things don't always work the way I expect. And this is one of those cases.

          At the same time, I have never encountered furries on Mastodon, this subculture I find probably the most stupid ever. But there must be entire communities of furry fans on Mastodon and Pixelfed. And they might know what to do with those filters. And they should be given all tools they find useful, regardless of my opinion nobody ever asked me for anyway.

            @chad You have a good point. However, saying "stay out of it, it's none of your business" on a federated platform where the aim is to hear and form opinions is in a class of its own. 😉

              That's absolutely not what I said.

              Equate this to how people express their identity on the fediverse in other ways. Honestly, if you have an issue with a harmless dog filter, you must have an issue with furries, too.

              Two harmless expressions, yet one seems reprehensible to you.

                @chad Yes, it's harmless at first. But it won't stop there. I foresee further shitification of the Fediverse. And I would find that very unfortunate.

                      @Dequei great question, this is in fact 100% offline and uses system (Metal on iOS) APIs to handle real time preview and rendering.

                          @moralapostel @dansup @kdekooter @anatolegc copying addictive platforms in all except this is not and addiction-based ad selling platform. So I fully adhere with @dansup about adding features people want for the actual product (instead of the app itself for converting them, the people, in the product). You should calm down a bit anyway.

                              @kdekooter just keep in mind, the fediverse is and will be open and diverse, there is no "we, the fediverse". Many fediverse users hate AI, but others like it and post AI content. Same with "childish" filters. Same with people telling other people how they should be and what they should or should not do. @dansup @moralapostel @anatolegc

                                    @dansup I'm very impressed by your resilience, that you are still building, while with every feature you ship, some "guardians of the fediverse" feel the urge to tell you what to do and what not. And I heavily assume most of them don't even use pixelfed or loops.
