@thomholwerda No dark mode? I can't handle all the brightness of the default white mode in Windows. I set a nice dark theme with purple accent colors, otherwise I end up like Cillian Murphy in Sunshine.

@kaidenshi I kind of alternate between the two throughout the year. All light mode right now, but it'll change in a few weeks or months.

There's no Mastodon/Fedi application for Windows and that sucks.

No, the one you want to mention to me now is garbage. I tried them all.

@thomholwerda In Vivaldi you have a button and a panel dedicated to Mastodon.

@thomholwerda If you want to alleviate the pain use IrfanView, Aimp, Notepad++ and PowerToys (Command Palette in particular) For graphics, Affinity or a copy of Adobe CS6 or an old CorelDraw!. Disable all what you can (widgets, optional data, etc.) Edge is ok as a browser and PDF reader.

Sleeping seems to hurt the Windows 11. Won't wake. Not sure yet what's going on.

I promised I'd use new Outlook. I'm using new Outlook. It's miserable.

What's with Windows 11 and laptop fans? I'm barely using the processor or Intel Arc GPU and the fans go haywire all the time.

@kaidenshi For me it depends on the machine I'm working on: on non AMOLED / high brightness displays I prefer the light mode because of the highest contrast in daylight. During the night I dim the display and activate the blue light filter.

@zbrando @thomholwerda Yeah I wish I could handle light theme interfaces, but I have light blue eyes and I'm extremely light sensitive, as well as severely nearsighted. A bright sunny day keeps me indoors or in shade just so I don't have to squint all day.

I have experimented with warm color temperature settings and blue light filters but I still get headaches so I default to dark themes and it really helps.

There are good things about Windows 11! Now that sleep/wake works, it's faster and uses less battery than Linux. Outlook (the classic one) is really not that bad, and on par with the Linux groupware clients (Kmail and Evolution). The Settings application is finally kind of alright now? Oh, and there's just... Icons on my desktop without having to resort to third-party extensions or other nonsense.

@thomholwerda nope. But third party support might be possible. At least, it was in Windows 10.
