    I’m seeing this article being seeded through a number of different ‘news’ outlets in Canada through The Canadian Press. It’s basically a PR piece written by a Libertarian ‘think tank’ out of Montreal meant to sway public opinion in favour of another pipeline.

    (Interesting to note a past VP at MEI is none other than PPC Leader Maxime Bernier.)

          No comment on the article, but I do want to point out that your framing of The Canadian Press is a bit stilted.

          The CP is a wire service. They write articles and member news outlets have the right to re-publish the CP's articles, make additions, and change the headline.

          Can PR firms get the CP to write a news article? Yes, though not directly. The CP's editors only select "newsworthy" topics to cover, so the way a PR firm gets the CP to do a write up on them is to frame their issue in a way that makes it compelling and newsworthy.

          All this is to say, please don't disparage the CP, they're doing their institutional function very well!

          Yes, comment on the contents of the article, but the fact that the article appears in numerous other outlets isn't a conspiracy, it's by design.

              @evdelen
              I think there’s a good discussion in here about how news wires services are used/manipulated by corporate PR firms to broadcast their messaging, I just don’t have time for it right now—I’ve got to go do the thing that pays the bills. 🙂

              I’d like to come back to this, though.
