A new study estimates the US has caused $10 trillion in climate damages since 1990. I'm a little surprised it's not more and very surprised that they found 25% of it damaged the US (I thought it would be less).
I need to look closer at the study, but my guess is both these surprises come down to the fact they are looking at 'economic damages' which dramatically undervalues the poorest around the globe who bear most of the true costs of #ClimateChange.

@FantasticalEconomics study seems to exclude events such as the Nordstream pipeline.

And the most depressing part is China has released triple the total emissions of the US (in its whole lifetime as a nation) in the last ~50 years, and they're supposeddly the ones "doing good" on climate change.
What's rarely mentioned when talking about this stuff is that trying to speed-run fossil fuel powered industrialization doesn't mean less emissions, just the same amount faster. That CO2 isn't magically coming out of the air because solar panels get sold now.
