    "We did not start this war." — Pete Hegseth, U.S. Secretary of War.

    It is a phrase we have heard before. Putin used it. Lukashenko used it. Across conflicts and continents, the rhetoric remains consistent: denial of instigation, assertion of defensive action. It reveals how wars are framed to the public—always as response, never as choice. Perhaps the more urgent question is not who started it, but who has the courage to stop it.
