President Trump delivered a televised address announcing large-scale combat operations in Iran. He cited Iranian actions since 1979: the hostage crisis, Beirut barracks bombing, USS Cole, killings of US troops in Iraq, support for proxies, and October 7 attacks.

Critics note the geographic reality: Iranian forces are not off US coasts. US forces are in the Persian Gulf, 10,000 kilometers from home.
