Unconfirmed reports indicate an unusually powerful over-the-horizon radar signal is being detected across Europe, operating on frequencies associated with U.S. primary nuclear command and control systems. Over-the-horizon radar detects objects beyond the curvature of the Earth by bouncing signals off the ionosphere. Such strong activation on strategic frequencies during peacetime is highly unusual. No official statements yet from U.S. Strategic Command, European Command, or NATO. Defense monitors are analyzing the situation.
