    @dysfun @whitequark there's even still audio cassette players on the market (although they suck ass)

        @whitequark (I still wish HiFi VHS took off more, it's fascinating what you can do with VHS tapes if you use the whole bandwidth of the tape for audio only.)

          @whitequark that must be vastly less complicated than producing new VHS recorders or players, so that doesn't surprise me too much

                @whitequark @xgranade Now we just need a retro revival of the Betamax vs VHS videotape format war. Even worse than baseline VHS quality was SLP ("super long play") that AFAIK was the default in the NTSC parts of the world.
