    meanwhile the keychron is just an excellent keyboard in general

    it does not even feel like gamer bullshit, but a legitimately quality product

    my conclusion is that i have just had defective switches from factory on that razer keyboard for years and just kinda put up with it for reasons that elude me

      this new keyboard has a power LED though because it has a bluetooth mode, and i would like to delete that LED.

        @ariadne I actually got a keychron for my father last christmas because it was one of the only mechanical boards on the shelf that wasn't absolutely dripping with Gamer Wank. And yeah, that thing is nice, even by my usual picky keyboard standards. Even slamming the keycaps down like my mother does is damn near silent on that thing. (Hers is a similar "budget" mechanical with brown switches, but that one makes a rather loud clack when you bottom it out. Her keyboard is louder than mine, and mine has blues...)

          the LED is driven by a resistor maybe i can just delete the resistor and put it back if i want to ever use bluetooth mode (hahahahaha i would never)

            @ariadne that is what I like to phrase as "optimizing the BOM"

              @jevinskie they could have optimized the BOM by selling me a keyboard sans the bluetooth crap

                @ariadne Temporary solution: electrical tape
                Permanent solution: black nail polish

                  @crowbriarhexe there is a switch for wired verses wireless mode, i am just going to use a relay or something to only power the LED in wireless mode (which i will never use)

                    @ariadne I'm surprised they don't allow programming the 3 LEDs through the firmware like they do the backlight.

                        @ariadne Keychron keyboards are widely used in professional settings in South Korea.

                          @ariadne I ordered a Keychron a few days ago, because this:
                          https://github.com/Keychron/Keychron-Keyboards-Hardware-Design

                          I likely won't do anything with those files, but still, that is a nice move. (Also the reviews were good and I need a keyboard.)

                          Hasn't arrived yet tho 🥲
