"It's an optional field in the userdb JSON object. It's not a policy engine, not an API for apps. We just define the field, so that it's standardized iff people want to store the date there, but it's entirely optional."
didn't think the FOSS community would be so excited to introduce privacy violations so quickly

So people definitely should not do exactly this en masse. If everyone did this it would create a massive headache for Lennart, because he is the only person who knows anything about anything, and he will have to spend time personally attacking all of these people.
