Omg... got to actually TOUCH the new @frameworkcomputer 13 pro.. and y'all.. they NAILED THIS!

I quit #apple back in 2020 and don't miss it ONE bit..... except the trackpad. I MISS the Apple trackpads.

Well no more.. Framework made the perfect trackpad here. Bloody well done!

@codemonkeymike @frameworkcomputer I can also confirm that the touchpad is very good and the laptop overall feels solid and high quality. I like the color of the keyboard keys. I tested the battery and it went to 3.14W with min brightness, barely any apps open, 60 Hz, Wi-Fi on, and power save on. I think Linux users are gonna be impressed by its battery life.

@rl_dane @codemonkeymike @frameworkcomputer I did not test much typing on it so idk. I don't think it will be a problem though cuz I haven't experienced any palm rejection problems on modern laptops.

@rasmus91 @frameworkcomputer I don't say this lightly, but this laptop feels perfect. It's peak form haha.

Annoying part is. I already have a framework 13 lol

@codemonkeymike @rasmus91 @frameworkcomputer they have a 13 upgrade kit listed in the store you can sign up as interested in… imagine it will be pricey tho… I also have a 13 😅

@rl_dane @chocolateloverraj @frameworkcomputer I have a framework 13 (not this sexy black one) and palm rejection is really good. Just don't like the clicking so use tapping. But if I had the haptic trackpad, I'd def turn off tapping

What a waste. Bait and switch, offering 4 choices of Linux distros, put together mMy memory, processor, etc, then only offered stinking Windows when asked to pick an operating system.

@falken @codemonkeymike @jfro @frameworkcomputer yeah, but the big new battery isn't backwards compatible, and that battery is part of the allure

In fact I'd almost rather have the new chassis+battery with the old mainboard

@codemonkeymike @rasmus91 @frameworkcomputer think it was basically everything but the mainboard but I’d have to check again. Chassis, top, trackpad etc for sure

Saw the framework ad, went to the framework site, found a page that offered Ubuntu and 3 other Linux distributions on their systems. Went through the hassle of picking memory, storage, processor etc, but when I got to the section for choosing an OS my only choices were Micro$haft, ie, Linux is only available on SOME of their systems. On Dell systems you SAVE $500+ with Linux instead of Windows.

@Threadbane @frameworkcomputer i'm positive you can just order it a DIY and get it with NO OS. That's how I always do it.

I can't imagine any Linux user having an issue with getting a laptop with no OS because most people will install their own anyway

@Threadbane @frameworkcomputer i'm positive you can just order it a DIY and get it with NO OS. That's how I always do it.

I can't imagine any Linux user having an issue with getting a laptop with no OS because most people will install their own anyway

Installed my first Linux, version .98, downloaded to 12 diskettes in 1993. I wrote the Datek CD driver for that pre-release. I have wiped Micro$haft off a few dozen systems I’ve bought over the years, replacing it with Red Hat, Debian, Mint, Free BSD, etc. I’m 83 years old. I thought maybe, just once, I would not have to deal with it, not have to spend hours downloading, verifying, installing…I though for ONCE somebody at framework would spare me that. Wrong.
