You know what, it's stupid that we're letting AI own em dashes. They're legit punctuation, and we should be able to use them without thinking everyone is going to yell "AI!" when they see it.

Here's how you tell if a human used one. Is it used incorrectly? Human. Is it used correctly? AI.

@matt_birchler The more annoying thing for me is that Microsoft Word, for at least as long as I've been alive, autocorrects a hyphen to an em-dash if it's supposed to be So this idea that something that contains correct em-dash usage must be AI... Completely ignores the totally real truth that the person could have also just been using Microsoft Word anytime in the last 20 years.

@matt_birchler we recently went through the hiring process for a position in the office. First time ever. One person out of 30 had spelling mistakes in their cover letter. I commended them — meant that I knew they wrote their cover letter and I knew their writing skill set was true.
