Happy Digital Independence Day to all Canadians who are transitioning away from the #TechBros to #OpenSource applications. What alternatives, large or small, have you implemented this past month? What are your plans for the next 30 days? Tell us what you're working on and encourage others to get started.
Start small, take baby steps to make it easier to reduce your reliance on U.S. based technology. -

Works for Canada too, of course!
I was kind of disappointed with the DID listings, but I've been a freak for this for ~20 years now.
I feel very, very guilty for introducing my friends to gmail back in ~2004 - I was just too busy for my own mail server. -

I had been using a mix of the two for a while and figured now was a good time to host my notes myself, they're important.
Bonus, I prefer Joplin's Markdown approach over OneNote's free-form formatting.

Here is what keeps me up at night: The same architecture that keeps a child scrolling past midnight also keeps a teenager in a feed of Holocaust denial. These are not two separate problems.

The solution then, is not to ban children from the internet, but to ban instagram, twitter, facebook et alia? Really, not only them, ban their algos and predations. -
