@mhoye I think that every editor that has decent enough support for using vibecoding tools will be submerged into that culture sooner or later.

@mhoye oh no… I think I plan to console myself that if some 2023 commit were tagged `low-background-steel` and turned into a fork, I think they’ve had every feature I’ll need for the rest of my career since around the mid-aughts, and I can mostly wait out the clock reading :help over and over repeatedly thinking, huh, neat, has that been here this whole time?

@mhoye Finally, a reason to be grateful I was too lazy to ever learn any Vim features that weren't in nvi, or really, whichever vi shipped with SCO SysV back in the early '90s.

@mos_8502 @mhoye there are not so few people deeply motivated by principles, I think. Fewer perhaps than I would like to believe but not so few that software with a conscience is in danger of vanishing.

@rgm @mhoye my thoughts exactly. I’ve used Vim since the late 90s, and just occasionally learn something new from :help.
                    I use exactly two plugins.
So I guess I could get the source of some old version, compile it myself, and just use that.
Ironically, at work we have software that scans your computer and makes sure you have the latest version of installed software, so I don’t know what I’ll do there.
