One day, I hope I get to delete my #facebook (#meta) account.

I still use it for #messenger and #marketplace.

@frank My work just blocked Messenger over the weekend. I was using it Saturday and bam. Yesterday, I was off but had to use the laptop for something. I did have a goal to leave by the end of 2027, which will be 20 years, almost 21 even (19 years this week), but I have relatives and old friends who may never leave it. Conundrum.

@capergrrl Your work blocked Messenger? Did they explain why? Security?

And yes, Messenger/Facebook has the same problem that Discord has: everybody is using it.

I still see leaving Facebook as a long-term goal. I think it's going to happen gradually, especially if some places and workplaces start to block it.

@frank I think it may be due to security and productivity.

Switched to Bluesky to communicate with my hubby, but otherwise, like Discord, Messenger will now be relegated to my phone. So I might miss important messages.

When my brother passed, I had not turned on wifi or data that morning when I walked to the doctor appointment I had (a block over). He lived across the province. When I finally turned on data while waiting to see the doctor, that's when I got the messages and called one of the higher ups who told me their number.

So I try to keep it on where I can see a name flash.
