@slothrop So I'm not missing something? Linktree things, where the first link is to their website? I had assumed there was some grubby reason for it, like Instagram points or something, but is just... because?

not everyone does or wants to have a website
is the question, why would some one with a website also have a linktree site pointing to their website?
Hypothesis: user behavior, they find that many people will click through to familiar linktree who might not to an unfamiliar URL

@slothrop a local community organisation has literally the worst designed website I have ever encountered, where every link on the front page takes you to their Linktree and then that takes you back to the different pages. And they're lovely people who do great work but I can't get my head around what sort of deranged mind would come up with something like that.
