@lyndamerry484 They learned from Orban, Hungarian advisers helped the US oligarchs implement the plans. The upcoming elections in Hungary are the first in very many years when Orban is at serious risk of losing.

@lyndamerry484 there is a giant urgency to replace our money-driven societies world-wide with value-driven societies. Money is an ideologie, that is, when applied as a mean to organise, classify the society, in stead of a simple mean to swap goods. Money has become THE political power which is idiotic and truely fascist. Better criteria are wisdom, a sense of fairness, granting the diggers of raw materials full autonomy and paying them for the actual value of the mined goods.

Re: news outlets,
It's dire that big media has all been co-opted by the right wing. Yet, there are so many amazing, brave, excellent independent news orgs out there, needing and deserving support. As well as independent journalists, social critics, and others with individual forums (blogs, etc).
I think the age of media conglomerates is dying, and it's a beautiful and exciting landscape for independent journalism! They need our support.

>age of media conglomerates is dying
Sorry, that was poor phrasing on my part. Not "dying" per se (as conglomerates will continue to conglomerate), but in the death knells. Their product will be right-leaning "infotainment." Some people like consuming that, but anyone in search of actual news and truth does not. Any real journalists will continue to bail/ be fired. Those companies will probably keep some number of bleary-eyed consumers who love infotainment. not me!

@lyndamerry484 this is why i think mastodon is living on borrowed time
@Kierkegaanks @lyndamerry484 One of the great feature and also one of its major pain points is that you can't buy the network wholesale, and any attempt would result in a carved-in isolated network like Truth.social.
Still, Mastodon is on borrowed time but not from threat of buyout, but rather by regulating it into oblivion with the social media age restriction policies that have cropped up in the UK and in many other places.

@fname @lyndamerry484 The only real choice we have is to not give them our eyes and ears. Without eyes and ears there can be no ad revenue. Without ad revenue the media businesses are not viable. We just need to collectively stop watching and listening.
