    @quinn I would pick a third option:

    No, they're stuck on this crazy train and can't get off even if they want to.

    @WenhamToo that still qualifies as the second answer 😂

      So it looks like Trump raped a child. Will he suffer any reduction in support from his base for it?

      @quinn
      Answer unclear, ask again later. For some folks it definitely has been. Enough? Who knows.

        @dymaxion @quinn Any reduction in support from his base counts as the first answer.

        I think that guy with a shotgun counts as one fewer Trumpflake, for whom the child rape thing was too much.

        So the question is, is this counterbalanced by any Trumpflakes who only now support Trump because of the child rape thing?

          @quinn as with all of these things, it will be the last straw for like 1% of his supporters, who will use it as a permission structure to get out of a movement they already wanted to get out of. his “base” are definitionally the ones who can maintain the cognitive dissonance and thus won’t be convinced, so I voted “no”. but the base may shrink a tiny bit.

            @quinn I voted "no" but also I was surprised when CBS booted out Attia so maybe? 🤷

              @quinn We will see vigorous debate over what is a child, unfortunately.

                  No. He'll condemn it as fake news, and the faithful will believe him. Being persecuted — or convincing the faithful that what's happening to you is persecution — is a good way to strengthen the flock's belief in you. Notice how often he's claimed to be beset on all sides by never-Trump enemies and to be treated more unfairly than any previous president.

                    I feel like your yes is very easy to achieve, I'm guessing a few percentage more will give up on him, but I doubt it will be enough for him to definitively lose power or be punished for it.

                                @maya_b @quinn Idea came from Gov. Edwards of Louisiana. But, he was running against a klansman:

                                Just a moment...
