Exciting announcement!
We created a new YouTube channel, and I'm one of the hosts!
We decided to make a series out of responding to comments on the @EUCommission social media accounts. It would really help me out if you hit that like button and leave a comment about what subject we should do next (if commenting on YT is your jam, that is.)
you can watch it here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgpWMZZg50w&list=TLPQMDkwNTIwMjYd8JjSIgTYBQ&index=1@hpod16 @EUCommission That’s a fantastic idea! It would be even better if it didn’t rely on a foreign algorithm, but I’m sure you’ll sort it out! 🥳
Regarding your questions:
- How is the EU INC?
- Will there be a common stock exchange so we can invest in European startups and companies instead of the SP500?
- Are there any serious discussions about creating a multi-tier Europe? The idea of formalising coalitions of the willing and allowing some countries to move faster than others?
- will there be a common e-ID app that will allow me to travel across Europe without a plastic ID? Like m-obywatel in Poland (the app is equivalent to your plastic ID—you can verify your identity in the bank or anywhere else). The only thing you can’t do is cross the border (even within Schengen)who’s is a pitty.
- As a EU citizen outside the Eurozone, will I be able to hold and use digital Euro?I have so many more questions and will post them here sometimes!

Oh that European e-ID is coming, and it's a good questions for a video, thanks!
PS: It would help if some of these comments were on YouTube, but I understand if people would rather stay on this platform too

"One thing countries that apply have to ... democracy, human rights, ..."
These terms have got a new meaning to me since the genocide in Gaza*, and since the EU uses illegal means and crimes to prevent refugees from seeking asylum. So my questions:
What do the European citizens think of the role of EU in the liberation of Palestine?
Is there a way to hold the European Union to account when it's about human rights? -

Thanks for the questions! These might be a bit too heavy for these kind of lighthearded YouTube videos, but it's important to answer them. What I can tell you about suspending the trade agreement with Israel:
The EU did put forward a proposal here, but in these highly political matters of foreign affairs you need all countries to agree, and Hungary was blocking the whole thing.
With Viktor Orban leaving office today, there's renewed hope that the EU will be able to act. -

i wouldn't mind some small endorsement under the hood
- have Angelo on the #fediverse
- tell at the end of the episodes that they can reach you ...guess where ?
- ask polls here and report it there ! -

Are the EU and China having any serious discussions about working together to end the russian invasion? The USA cannot solve that problem anymore. -
in this way we speak about the #fediverse to a different, mostly unaware, larger audience, without speaking about the fediverse.
Like it's a normal, obvious thing -

Technically, Armenia shouldn't be able to apply, nor Greenland but that is ludicrous. In other "european" endeavours we already allow for participation by non European countries. Why not in this one? I'd LOVE to see Canada and Australia join.

I'm sure this has been already treated elsewhere but a reminder of the different EU bodies (EC, Council, …), their members, their functions, the way each acts could be a good subject. -

That’s a good idea! Just a back to basics - how does the EU work?
Lord knows we all need it, even I get things wrong still, and I’ve been in Brussels for 10 years -

@hpod16
I think uploading 5 videos at the same time is a bad strategy.

If I may nitpick: I'm not sure it's wise to refer to Article 7 as a “last resort”. It might be possible for a member state to effectively kick itself out of the EU, by violating the treaty in such an unacceptable way that the other members unanimously agree that it is no longer in the EU. Article 60 of the Vienna Convention (https://legal.un.org/ilc/texts/instruments/english/conventions/1_1_1969.pdf) would probably be the legal basis for such a decision.

@rozeboosje Because we're not a mini UN, nor a theme park with trade agreements? We're a common culture bound by a shared legal framework. It seems staggeringly arrogant to me to assume resource-rich countries on other continents would even WANT to be under the jurisdiction of the CJUE. Also: are we TOO functional right now? Are our institutions working SO well that we need to add lawmakers from 10 timezones away with 0 interest in Europe to our legislative process? #CanadaJar
