besides windows not working on there (which, to my knowledge, is microsoft's own fault for signing contracts with snapdragon), i don't see how that's any more anti-consumer than their x86 computers

like. they always had soldered on RAM, soldered on storage, etc., none of that changed with the architecture changed. since 2016 at least, macbooks have been shitty deals if you care about having a laptop that won't die if you blink at it too hard lol

only difference is now it runs on a different architecture for better battery life

@xerz another bad part is that m1 will most certainly lose support next year and running unsupported macos will be close to impossible

so, macs now have a hard expiry date of ~7 years, even though their hardware allows them for way more
