            @jhpot I get a lot of mileage out of Syncthing: I have one shared folder it to keep my notes and to-do lists (simple markdown files) available on all my devices, I have one folder for my music collection (DRM free mp3/ogg files) on my laptops and home server, I have another folder that keeps my phone photos available on all my devices (and thus backed up on my home server), other folders for a couple of research project, &c. It stands in for the functionality provided by a number of different cloud services and has the additional advantage of making them also work offline by keeping local copies always available.

                @decadecity I've been using Resilo Sync for this since it was called Bittorrent Sync, and keep meaning to switch to SyncThing

                  @jhpot glad to find another fan of Clipy! The best thing about it is that it does exactly what I need it to do and not a bit more.

                  I've tried countless clipboard managers and they all need a heavy dose of addition by subtraction.

                        @jhpot Yeah, I went from Bittorrent Sync to SyncThing but they both provide that local-first, peer-to-peer syncing that's the real enabler here: the more you use it the more you find you can use it for.

                              @jhpot

                              correct temp water for my coffee every morning, no hassles? vastly more of an improvement on my life that any other software i can think of.

                              most software just gets in my way, breaks things that used to work, or annoys me.

                              i haven't had to update my kettle, install an app, buy a subscription, deal with AI on it. definitely my favorite.
