I have no clue what kind of tree it is. When I ran it through Google Lens, it said rather unhelpfully:

"This is a photo of the "Stanyan Tree," a notable tree located between two apartment buildings on Stanyon Street in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, California."

So I guess we should call it Stan.

@BobHorowitz On second thought, is it a real tree? Maybe it's fake? That would be a lot easier to maintain, considering the effort involved in keeping it exactly between those walls
