@giantspecks “an explosion of baroque” is an apt description for it.

@Trilobyter Thanks for the follow! You're working on Artemis? That's so exciting!

@giantspecks ha yes I am, specifically on Orion, but only till the end of this month, retirement looms (happily). Over 37 years working human spaceflight, starting with the Space Shuttle program. With all the turmoil following Friday’s big announcement regarding Artemis 3 & subs redirection it seems a good time as any to bow out.

@Trilobyter I'm hugely interested in space and space travel. Born in '62 and Apollo 11 is a formative memory for me

@giantspecks I guess I qualify as a “NASA brat”, my father took a job with NASA to work on Apollo in ‘62 (I was 2) and moved us to Houston. He helped develop the backup guidance system of the Lunar Module among other things. So I grew up in a neighborhood near MSC (now JSC) along with the sons & daughters of astronauts & other NASA engineers. If you’ve ever seen Linklater’s Apollo 10 1/2 that pretty well captures that part of my childhood.
