@briankrebs I wish people understood how important the Federal Register is to how law is made. The government has to consider comments and if they fail to consider them seriously you can sue to block a regulation. The more people who comment with serious objections to a rule, the harder it is for the government to implement that rule. It’s an under appreciated avenue for direct democracy and direct action. @johnefrancis @briankrebs also almost impossible to comply with (family phone numbers etc) so along with feeds into the surveillance state it’ll just be cover for arbitrary detention.

@briankrebs it doesn't surprise me how the US government is acting with the border control - I think, I will attend "virtual" when attending conferences... and I think I will look for conferences and it-sec-organizations outside the US. Also, the current direction of policies does add a very big question mark to all US it-sec-products. Products from China and Russia do now provide similar trust in regards of state actor influence

Canada needs to apply the same rule to every truck crossing the border, especially to/from Alaska and searching each one for fentanyl or russian contraband.
