    @cczona college textbook, $300. As a bonus, the AI can re-churn a new edition every single semester. Goodbye, used books!

    Reading this I for one think of the environmental impact of printing this same garbage every year. And on top of that we now place the environmental impact of using writing this very garbage using ai…

    And then, on top of that, some poor student probably went into debt to buy this very garbage. Then realise that the information in this book isn’t even the same as what you can find online, but probably even worse!

    I’m at a loss of words…

        @AlSweigart It's also the lukewarm garbage that is MS UI, that when you click the 'copy' button it includes that text.

          @AlSweigart this book is a grade-bearing requirement in "author's" university course isn't it? 😬

                    @AlSweigart Neatly encompasses how our AI industrialists think they're "solving our problems"..

                    In their small minds not having to read the output nor care about it is precisely what they offer.

                    They have no understanding of what they're doing. They're just industrialists optimising for mass production, and our social needs are in the way.

                          @AlSweigart
                          An AI written school textbook. So this is where we have come to. Can't say I'm surprised, though.

                          And then trees are cut down in order to make paper to print this shit on.

                          Otoh though, if the students didn't read this stuff from a book, they'd probably have AI explain it to them anyway, contributing to the negative environmental effects.

                          So, yeah, this is fucked no matter how you look at it.

                            actually, this is the established model in the school system in Italy. Every year, every text book, a new edition. Little if any new content but certainly a new price. And this was before AI. Now it will just be turbocharged.

                            The only thing is that there are limits set by the ministry of education but the problem remains.
