    I've posted these before but I was appreciating them again in the early morning sunlight today. Hand made by two of my great grandmas.
    I don't want to use them on a bed and risk wearing them out, but I also don't want to keep them hidden away in storage.

    @dillyd As a child, I loved sleeping under my grandma’s handmade quilts. As an adult, I had one of them. But in a house move I noticed it was missing. I called the moving company numerous times finally raising cain but they said they couldn’t find it.

        @RussCheshire
        I quilt but don't know anything about crochet. When this crocheted bedspread was handed down to me, it had broken in a few places. I took it to a yarn shop and the lady there matched the yarn and the methods and made it good as new. Magic, if you ask me.

          Edit: they were my great great grandmas. My mother's mother's mother's mother, and my mother's father's mother's mother.
          Wow, write that word enough times and it starts to look wrong.

              @dillyd That's so great you have them. My Grandmothers hands never stopped moving... Relaxing(?) down time on the farm for her was either crocheting or knitting things for the family. Gosh I miss her.

                    @RussCheshire @dillyd When I found my grandma's lace bobbins (many years after her death) I had no clue what they were.

                                @dillyd @lydiaschoch I (re)learned how to crochet with books and Youtube.
                                The basic building block of getting a loop through a loop (once or more) gives an infinite world of possibilities. The hardest part is spending enough time to get regularity. I like #crochet

                                  @dillyd there's a technical term for this but I can't remember it. (You get the same effect if you /say/ the same word too many times in a row.)

                                          Those are beautiful. I'd like to find somebody to teach me in-person. I really hate watching videos

                                          @dillyd @lydiaschoch a wool shop in your neighbourhood is the first place were I would ask if they know someone. Many have a notice board. Or in a repair cafe that does textiles.
