Carlos Severe Marcelin – Cascadia Suite
A ten-track suite of guitar-led instrumental music drawing from rock, prog and ambient/New Age, all mixed into a single, seamless, 26-minute whole.
Cascadia Suite, by Carlos Severe Marcelin
Cascadia Suite by Carlos Severe Marcelin, released 03 April 2026 1. Cascadia Suite (Combined) 2. In a Yellow Wood 3. All the Difference 4. For Astoria 5. A New Federation 6. Doug Flag 7. Permaculture 8. Russels Dream 9. Harmonius Biosphere 10. Ecotopia 11. Wexit Cascadia Suite is a declaration of Place It is shaped by rain-soaked forests, basalt coastlines, volcanic horizons, and river valleys older than we can imagine. It is rooted in the Pacific Northwest—not as a backdrop, but as a living system: land, climate, history, and people bound together by the conditions that shape life here. This music listens to the region and responds in kind, translating moss, fog, trees, and stone into sound. Built from layered atmospheres, sustained harmonies, and slow-moving melodic forms, Cascadia Suite resists urgency. Entirely instrumental, it asks for presence rather than attention—inviting the listener to walk beneath ancient canopies, through drifting cloud cover, and along quiet trails where time loosens its grip. Here, composition and environment dissolve into one another. But this is not only a portrait. It is a position. Cascadia Suite quietly affirms a belief in Cascadia as a bioregional identity—one defined not by imposed borders, but by watersheds, ecosystems, and shared responsibility to the land. It imagines a future rooted in ecological balance, cultural resilience, and community. In this sense, the album functions as a form of resistance: slow, patient, and unwavering. This work rejects domination in favor of stewardship, speed in favor of sustainability, and abstraction in favor of place. Imagine a land where governance is reclaimed by the people themselves—where direct democracy returns as a living practice rather than a historical footnote. A land where ideas are debated openly, persuasion is grounded in evidence, and decisions are made without being filtered, distorted, or commodified by layers of representation and power. The decisions are legitimized through mutual trust. Imagine an economy informed by history, restrained by limits, and guided by collective well-being, curbing senseless accumulation. This is not nostalgia. It is possibility. Cascadia Suite offers no instructions and demands no allegiance. It is an offering—to the land, to those who love it, and to those willing to imagine another way of living within it. It stands as a reminder that the future is not abstract, and that place still matters. Listen slowly. Listen attentively. The land is speaking. 01- In a Yellow Wood 02- All the Difference (3:08) 03- for Astoria (5:26) 04- Lichen Subscribe (9:05) 05- A New Federation (12:20) 06- Doug Flag (13:51) 07- Permaculture (17:12) 08- Russell's Dream (18:57) 09- Harmonious Biosphere (20:45) 10- Ecotopia (22:18) 11- Wexit (23:33)

Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens – my mylar lungs
Moody, minimal experimental-leaning techno with a subdued, almost lo-fi production vibe.
my mylar lungs, by Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens
my mylar lungs by Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens, released 30 May 2025 1. leaf blowr 2. gardn 3. sunbathr 4. 92' point shoos 5. 92' tutoo 6. flying butrss 7. glu jemz Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens continues to emerge from his musical hiatus with a full length album of biotic techno outgrowth and ambient offshoots. “My Mylar Lungs” speaks to the moments of decompression where one’s environmental awareness and one’s body awareness begin to resync. Last year's micro set of “songs performed in the style of haiku [winter]” opened a door back into the joy of a hardware driven approach using Casio samplers of the 1980’s for his play. His new LP continues this trend with more sounds bouncing between vintage samplers, field recordings, and overlaying synthesizers through a hazy 1960’s mixer. The album’s movement from ambient to minimal folk techno aims to ground listeners in moments of environmental contemplation as well as body rhythms. Sounds harken back to the origins of electronic dance music inspired by Psyche/BFC, Dettinger, and Sturm while playing with the forward thinking notions of his labelmates, HLite, Entrancer and Glissline. From tinkering alongside his grandfather who built radio/TV stations in Iowa, to throwing a rave in his youth featuring Kevin Saunderson, recording with Beta-Lactam Ring Records (Nurse with Wound, The Legendary Pink Dots), to starting up Multidim Records in order to help other DIY electronic musicians; Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens has held electronic music’s rich tone library in deep admiration. This album is Jeffrey re-discovering his process in all walks of life.

Finally, if you agree that my time is better spent writing about cool music than trying to sell crap online, consider helping make that a reality with a small contribution. Every dollar counts, and there are rewards available to those who contribute.
