@xabih
Hello and thanks for your response to my Post.
I can't find the VPS called "CX22" on Hetzner page but a "CX23" so i guess it's the replacement.
How much do you pay for it?
@kranzkrone 6β¬/month aprox.

@xabih
Alright, that Price seems quite respectable to me.
You only run that Instance of Pixelfed on this VPS, noting else more?

I had to ask because I try to figure out if there is any headroom left on that VPS besides something like Pixelfed or Mastodon.

@kranzkrone only Pixelfed

Who has Experience with using YunoHost for managing Services like Mastodon or Pixelfed or Matrix/Synapse or else in a kinda starter VPS(2cores/4gb Ram) at a Hoster like Hetzner.de or OVH or Bunny.net or DigitalOcean or similar?
How long have you doing it?
What were the Pitfalls/Problems you encounter?
How stable does it run with a certain amount of Services on?
Thank you for your Participation and maybe sharing this Post around with a Boost for better visibility in the Fediverse.

@kranzkrone AIUI Mastodon is too fat for that spec, youβd be better off with GotoSocial. My instance has roughly the same specs (but a different hoster). I ran it for the first year on a VM with just 1 GiB RAM but that became too small for even GtS (with PostgreSQL) eventually.
I installed GtS myself, no idea what this yuno thing is about, so I cannot comment on that.

Hello and thanks for the response.

What's behind the Akronym called "AIUI" & "GtS" exactly?

@kranzkrone hi!
AIUI is a standard one for "as I understand it", and GtS is short for GotoSocial.
I operate an acronym database at https://mbsd.evolvis.org/wtf.htm where you can look up a lot of them, as the tech world is full of them. Enjoy!

@kranzkrone starter vps' at ovh are now 4c/8gb; more than enough to run mastodon, but for storage you'll probably want to setup s3 object storage right off the bat. Yunohost works ok. Cloudron may be more reliable but less customisable and flexible.

Thanks for your response.
Good to know about that Storage.

Iβve run random stuff including a #gotosocial server my account is living on with #DigitalOcean. Their service is very stable.
They are slow to make available new releases of OS like Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc. Often need to wait weeks or months for the image to be available. You can upload your own raw image to boot, but then for some reason, IPv6 can never be turned on. Their S3 clone is obviously ceph with some slightly weird limitations if you do advanced S3 ACL.
Fly.io also is really great if you just want to fire up a container. But their pricing doesnβt seem to make sense compared to using docker-compose on DigitalOcean. -

Thanks for your detailed response.
Fly.io wasn't something that I knew, so added to my list.
