@rubyjones @chris_colvin Ah crap - didn't think about maps and didn't realise youtube was google - I should've said 4-6. I use these plus android and google wallet on my phone. (also google play, but that feels like a core part of android?)

Mastodon seems to be a very pro-privacy, anti-Gopgle place. So, be honest... How many Google apps and/or services are you (intentionally) using these days?

Additionally, are you trying to reduce that number?

@chris_colvin I do have my banking app that does not work on Lineageos. Therefore occasionally use a separate phone with google for my banking needs.

Deleted my account but I still use Maps and YouTube regularly. Google Earth sometimes. I don't see myself cutting these out anytime soon

@chris_colvin@mastodon.social ditching an old main account of google. just keeping secondary account for posting of youtube clips of bird observations. Hardest is to ditch google maps.... working on that.

@chris_colvin The only one I still use regularly is YouTube. Occasionally I use Maps but only if I need Streetview. I'd love to get rid of both and be able to say that I'm completely Google free, but alas, the alternatives just don't have the content.

@chris_colvin I only use Google email and calendars for things that aren’t important to me.

@chris_colvin Same. If I were making videos, I'd post them on Peertube for sure, but as a consumer of videos? I'm basically fucked.

@chris_colvin Well, that's 1-3 as my mobiles are still the standard Android as the Moto G6Plus and the Xperia XZ2 Premium came with.
Both still too good to replace.
And on the Xperia I don't want to screw up the camera and video.

@pentup @chris_colvin Oooh, I wasn't counting Android (but all the Phone OSes I could possibly work with are evil) and I recently (like, just a couple of weeks ago) had to get Google Wallet because I left my purse at home and it was the only way to pay. I've made exactly one purchase with it, but yeah, I would also be in 4-6 😩

@chris_colvin I’m at 1… YouTube. I don’t how I could drop it until those content creators don’t move elsewhere.

I have reduced its use though.
