We had to take a trip to #Portsmouth, #Ohio. What a weird little town. It's laid out awful and traffic was bad. People were friendly, though. #AppalachianOhio

On the way back home, we pulled over for gas at a roadside station that probably has been there for 60 years or more, and as Penny was getting out to fill the tank, Goober came up to pump the gas. Who knew... Still a full-service gas station in 2026. It took ole Goober a minute to get to us because, like in the tv show, he was deep in conversation with a customer.

The fog coming off the Ohio River was awesome. It was warm out but the water is still cold. It looked like ghosts hoovering over the water.

@FeloniousPunk Amazing that the law recently changed in Oregon.. It went away around SW Ohio at the end of the 1980s. I'm not sure when, or if, there was even a prohibition in Ohio. I'm in my 50s and I remember self-service stations going back to my pre-kindergarten days when my grandfather would let me "hold" the pump handle

@paul @Esoteria We still have stations that provide the service free of charge, no tipping expected. In fact today, someone filled my tank at Costco. I think NJ is the only remaining state that prohibits people from pumping their own gas.

2/ I am pooped! You wouldn't think sitting in a car for an hour would wear you down but that trip did.

I guess it is the inertia you are fighting when you are in a car.

It didn't help that 35 miles, at least, we were on one road and the left view was the start of a mountain and the right view was a river. Also, halfway on this stretch, my "water-pill" decided it was ready to work "full stream ahead." LOL It was rainy and foggy. Heavy fog at 3PM!

Also, every 25 feet the pavement bumped because it needs repaved.
