This week, I helped a friend get ADHD medication.

They got in touch with an English-Speaking Psychiatrist in Spain that I recommended, and they had an appointment within 4 days.

They had an online call today that lasted 30 minutes, in which they talked about their existing ADHD diagnosis from a decade ago in another country, and their current situation. At the end of that call, they got a prescription for ADHD meds that they have just picked up in a pharmacy here.

Part of that call was a discussion about budget, as the different options have different costs, and the Doctor did not want to prescribe beyond the patient's means. There's a followup appointment in a month, and once titration is finished, it'll be every couple of months.

The Doctor did charge for their services, but the consultation fee was pretty reasonable for someone with a salary, even a Spanish one, to pay.

This is what mental healthcare, all healthcare, should be like.

@moof i mean, ideally, you wouldn't have to pay out of pocket and you could just go to your local public hospital for this

unfortunately, public healthcare is chronically underfunded
