    @kibcol1049 @MAJ1 Don’t feel too bad, I can do you one stupider, I have driven my tractor under a tree branch too low for that activity, damn near decapitating myself in the process, multiple times. Like, I know it’s there, I know it’s too low, and yet my brain says “na, we can duck”. I cannot limbo and make the tractor go. Sometimes, I worry about my decision making skills. 🤣🙀🤷🏻‍♀️

    @MissConstrue @kibcol1049 Morning both 👋😊

    I had an inspiration overnight … put the relevant trees on stilts!
    Think about it … you know it makes sense!! 😜

          @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 I honestly think my logic every spring is that surely the branch is higher now, than it was before. And indeed it may be, but it’s the prairie, stuff doesn’t grow like I was in the tropics. In the tropics, that tree would be a canopy, not hanging around menacing me at hobbit height for years at a time.

            @MissConstrue @MAJ1 According to my extensive research (2 mins on Google), after initial growth the branches stay at the same height, but get thicker. Who knew? certainly not my head!

              @kibcol1049 @MissConstrue I’m telling you - stilts are the way to go!

              I read that too. Flipping trees, you would think they would make more effort! 😁

                @MissConstrue @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 this is correct, trees grow out rather than up from the base. Non-tree things that look like trees are liable to be different though

                    @kibcol1049 Morning Col 👋😊

                    I barely take note of necessary ones!

                    I ignored a height restriction once, gave myself a right bang on the noggin on the doorframe!

                    Have a good one my friend! 😊🫶 🐿️🖖

                          @cowman @MissConstrue @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 More than once, as a way of explaining this, I've asked others if they've ever seen an old fence nailed to a tree and hanging up in the air.

                              @chertridge @cowman @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 Ya know, I’ve lived in the rural south most of my life, and until this thread, I do not recall seeing fence nailed to a tree. I’ll be honest though, my fence line is so wavy, it looks like tide rolling. (Ok, it’s not quite that bad, but it is 30 years old and looks it. But the estimate to replace it was over 100k, so...I kinda wish I had trees to prop it up...cause ain’t nobody got six figures for a fence. 🤣)

                                  Though I do have another possibly janky solution: cheap straps + some of those dog stakes. I put a level on the post and tightened until it was straight, at least this was my plan for the winter and it's held up so far. 🙂

                                      That’s pretty much what I was gonna try for the posts, and reset and cement them in place. Then just do a section at a time, as I have time to build it. And yeah, it’s thousands of feet of fence, about half of which is inaccessible to heavy equipment, because it would break the irrigation. Since I had the inground pool demolished last fall, I don’t legally have to keep the property fenced with six foot barrier fencing, I may just take it out. I don’t care if people wander through my gardens, as long as they don’t bother the bobcat. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤘🏼
