@MelissaBearTrix Sometimes I'm embarrassed at how slow I am at reading analogue time, but I suppose I should give myself credit that I *am* still in the demographic of people who manage to get there in the end

@MelissaBearTrix yes, but I've had a student ask me during a proctored test what time it was, because they couldn't read the clock. I was shocked for a moment, and then realized, this is not what they're being tested on and I should make every effort to remove this barrier. So that's my take on it, in every circumstance where it's not my business, which so far is all of them.

Yea, and tho I prefer the numbers, I really like how the analog dials visually show the progression as a cycle, rather than "well you see this one resets to 00 after 59, but this one resets to either 00 after 23, or 01 after 12, flipping the morning/evening indicator one increment earlier"@Snapai @MelissaBearTrix ooo someone finally changed (corrected?) the spelling of “analog”

@lnr I'm not familiar with those. I presume those are candles that are made with segments indicating X number of hours?
Besides reliability how common would these be in pre-industrial times? I heard a podcast once where they tried to illustrate how expensive light was in pre-industrial times by making their own candles the old fashioned way.
@sysop408 It's hard to search for, because I just keep finding links to fake LED candles with timers instead, but this looks like a basic little video on using candles to mark time:

I think people would have informally marked time to some extent with how long they had to work in the evening before their candle burnt out! Or how long their lamp would burn before needing refilling.
