    @stux
It's a bit outdated. It's from the time they used to disguise the massacres and call them "wars". They no longer bother.

      Politicians hide themselves away
      They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
      Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'til their judgement day comes
      Yeah!

A variation that I forget the source of:

"War is fought between poor young men, who don't know each other, on behalf of rich old men, who know each other well."

Okay, but the presence of the words "young" and "old" is in bad taste.

@stux so you're implying that Zelensky and Putin are in bed with each other and started this war together to let their people kill each other?

@Schafstelze Not because of Zelensky but yes, it always comes from a ‘higher’ place

War is not decided by the civilians

Our History Professor, one of my favorite teachers in college, taught us not to be "whig historians", i.e., to not judge history strictly according to today's standards of ethics & aesthetics.

The US constitution reads, "...all *men* are created equal...", which you might object to. Yet, in the past, "men" was the word used to refer to all people. Not that the slaveholder founders actually followed their own document. Women did not have the right to vote, nor POC etc.

My generation (GenX) & earlier generations struggled against sexism, racism, ageism, homophobia and other injustices of the past, perhaps we have created a culture where our victories became ossified into a new orthodoxy. In the past, those bigoted attitudes towards some people were normalized. One would be discriminated against for being a woman, or even slightly Black, or gay. Earlier generations fought hard against this & won, then sadly, made a new form of bigotry.

Today, the bigotry continues. "Anti-racism", "anti-ageism", & "anti-homophobia" etc are the new norm. Now one is discriminated against by the Political-Correctness bigots, for sounding even slightly racist, sexist, ageist, or homophobic. So insane and out of control is this bigotry, that I, a bisexual, non-binary person, who was having gay sex, and wearing dresses before the new generation even heard the word "drag", get discriminated against for being "homophobic".

Earlier generations were careless about using racist/sexist/homophobic language. The pendulum has now swung in the opposite direction. Today, people are overly careful about using such language, to the point that they are the new bigots, and will pounce on anyone whose speech sounds even slightly racist/ageist etc. This is a new form of bigotry.

Here's an anthem of rebellion which today's generation might misunderstand:
