@thomaschristopherking hello!
FYI, your company sounds awesome and I would like to learn more however,

Feel free to ask questions about the site etc. It's really meant more as a social enterprise thing and I love discussing it with people.
Work in progress, recently big UI changes, and I still need to setup a site liveness check lol

Hi, I'm Thomas - new here and possibly moving from Threads because it's driving me nuts.
From the UK, live on a narrowboat, PhD in formal logic focussing on legal reasoning. Now a software engineer trying building a site to document arguments ( Controvis ) - argumentation is one of my main interests (both formal and not).
Economically left and socially liberal. Was a member of the Lib Dems but didn't think they took a hard enough stance against transphobia. So erm, maybe I'll join the Greens, I don't know.
@thomaschristopherking yes, intro posts are sensible. Welcome to the fediverse! You must tell us about your narrowboat living!

I follow another UK narrowboat liveaboard, in case you'd like to compare notes:Welcome to the Mastodon community, where connection is more important than reach, and your own choices are the algorithm.

Yep, introduction posts are a Fediverse tradition, as is boosting them to help them reach the widest audience. And if'n you're going to ask what is the Fediverse, its a collection of apps that can interact with one another, whether similar like Mastodon and Wafrn (I'm on this), or PeerTube and Friendica.

@thomaschristopherking Following you because I'm glad to see anyone insisting on a hard stance against transphobia from our politicians (yours, mine, any of them).

A bit jealous about the fact you live on a canal boat. We sadly have no real canal system in Switzerland

@thomaschristopherking@social.coop That's true. And there are a lot of em.
I complain on a very high level here would be awesome if all the big ones where connected trough canals.

@thomaschristopherking this is a cool intro. What is it like to live on a boat?

@kimlockhartga well today I have been removing mold. So, one aspect is damp and humidity. In general a lot of maintenance work that some people love and others not. The main pluses for me are the travelling, being in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of a city (though we are permanently moored for the upcoming years now), and the nature.

@monkee yeah, I was working in Zurich for about a month. Took a boat across the lake, went up a mountain, down the other side, and got a boat back (I think, or maybe it was a train). The fact that's possible blows my mind.

@thomaschristopherking It sounds so great, except as you say, the regular maintenance, and I suppose, storms? I hope where you are moored has some physical protections.
My dad owned a sailboat with three other couples back when Pier 39 was in use in San Francisco (since taken over by sea lions). The marina wanted to sell permanent slip fees, but I talked my dad out of it. Good thing. "Lifetime" don't mean shit if the marina goes under.

@kimlockhartga It's a very very inland waterway, a canal. Furthest we've gotten to the sea was on the tidal Thames. So storms aren't really a concern (er, if they were we would be in trouble because our type of boat has a very shallow draft).
I mean, it does knock about a bit when it's stormy but it's not an issue really.

@thomaschristopherking This sounds truly ideal!
