France Launches Government Linux Desktop Plan as Windows Exit Begins
Bye bye spyware and AI batshit crazy Windows 11.
Ah, now I'm seeing something that makes sense of MicroSlop backing off on including AI in their toilet paper and their toilet brush.
Knew that individual user outrage couldn't possibly have been a factor.

I have said this before and I will say it again, it is time that taxpayers, who are the majority of regular folks in every country, should not pay a single penny to the likes of Microsoft. Taxpayer money should only go to FLOSS. Enough is enough with these big corporations. They have failed to protect user privacy and safety and obsessed with AI like teenagers.
@nixCraft problem is that #Taxpayers (unlike #Consumers when buying stuff for themselves) have neither leverage nor means to actually do this.
- Because the state is better equipped and trained to forcibly take…
- And #Politicans are almost always #TechIlliterates and #Lobbyists at the same time.
- #FLOSS doesn't offer " #RevolvingDoors " for " post-#politricks careers "…

@nixCraft@mastodon.social But will they require the use of distros that have age-verification enabled?

Back in the 1990s any software developed in-house by NOAA had to be made public domain because the public had paid for it.

@nixCraft @cstross that final comparison is grossly unfair. To teenagers. https://stefanbohacek.online/@stefan/116377286633117985

@nixCraft just one Department, not rhe whole french government.
The whole Social Security, despite running linux servers, relies heavily on Office365. Last time they tried moving to LibreOffice they failed. -

@nixCraft Hopefully this sticks and others follow their lead. An EU state and economy built on FOSS tools would be a sight to see
