FYI, if I had to verify my age back in the day when I first browsed the internet and played social games I am pretty sure my parents would drag the computer out of the house

What happened to "don't fill out personal info online everywhere" 🤔

"Dad, you can I scan my ID or credit card so i can play this game?" was a clear indication of scam back in the days

So no, i don't support age verification one bit

I even have to teach my parents these days not to fill out or download everything on every random website..

How the tables have turned on this!

It is however very worrisome, the "oldskool internet behaviour" aka privacy seems to fade more and more

@stux “I have nothing to hide” has quickly become the dominant outlook in public perception 😕

@stux My parents are pro surveillance on the internet because they say, "I don't have to hide anything because I'm not a criminal."

@stux Exactly! "Don't give anyone online your real name, home address, social security number, birthday" was drilled into me so hard that it's difficult for me to imagine scanning my ID documents anywhere unless there's an extremely legitimate reason. I get intense scam-vibes from it! Social media, gaming or downloading an app shouldn't require the same rigor as bank KYC, and if it will then I'm out because it's no longer fun.

No to #ageverification, #VPN bans etc, and I will vote accordingly!

Look at what happened with Instructure/Canvas these days <https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/canvas-cyberattack-exposes-sensitive-data-1795770>. Imagine if they had had scanned id documents...

@phillip @stux Funny thing is that if you have a proper conversation with such people and you dig enough, it always turns out that they do have something to hide after all...
