– I can’t find my phone.
– Dude, we are talking over the phone.@proedie @korin @Heliograph get them to hang up and call you back. Then you perhaps can find it by following the sound....unless on silent.

– Dude, we are talking over the phone.@proedie @korin @Heliograph I’ve done that!

I’ve also walked around looking for my glasses while they were on the top of my head.

I actually watched the teacher that inspired this theory do •exactly• this. Searched the drawer where the key was supposed to be; couldn't find it. Searched •the entire seven room apartment•; couldn't find it. Looked in the drawer •again•; no joy.
While she was on the phone, busting the chops of the assistant who was supposed to have put it in the drawer—absently pulled the drawer open, & there it was.

@cavyherd @Heliograph That was a true story from my personal experience, actually.

@cavyherd @Heliograph Ah, sorry, you meant YOUR story from the image. Misunderstanding.

In other words: You Are Not Alone! (Not sure how much comfort that is....
)I think I've always been ND, but ever since the start of the pandemic, my issues with this have only gotten worse. My failure modes tend to be the other two, but I have run into this one on occasion.
It's very tedious. Esp when accompanied by the spectacular toddler melt-down of frustration (which has always been a thing for me).

@Heliograph Nobody remembers Gary Larson's Car Key Gnomes?
They visited recently. Put my wife's key in the toe of a boot in a wardrobe. Both of us looked there among many other places, in the boot that is, bc it was under her trousers hanging overhead. Only when she looked a 2nd time on the 2nd day did make a faint giveaway rattle.
Status: waiting for Motorola's Moto2 tag to be available. (Like an Apple AirTag but better). And if it works with GrapheneOS...

@Heliograph
Remember: When you eventually find the thing, put it in the first place you looked for it. Next time, your instinctive reaction will be successful.@notsoloud @Heliograph Or not.
