If you've ever used Pinterest and wanted a federated version, I have great news!
I'm refactoring Pixelfed Collections, with the ability to add items other than your own posts, like any url or remote post.
Public or private collections with less limitations and much easier to use.
Imagine being able to share media or urls to the Pixelfed app, and selecting which collection to add it to, or create a new one.

@dansup Please also allow for stories to be added to collections, and loosing their 24h delete timeline by adding it

@dansup This would be the best thing for me. I frequently use Pinterest for wallpapers or for media i use in posts and my daily life. This would be great way to remove Pinterest from my life.
@Squirrel_767, may i ask why you would like to stop using Pinterest? I mean, I get you, me too, but is it linked to the app specifically as its bugs etc or more like its developers and their ideals?

@dansup I dumped Pinterest about a year ago. Iโm very happy about this as a replacement option. Thank you.

@alannyta @Squirrel_767 I dumped Pinterest because they flagged an image of mine as problematic and were going to close my account. They couldnโt point to which image it was, but it was in my collection of fine art! So the whole thing was absurd. I realized I had no control over my work and their AI flagging system and that I could spend a lot of time on collections, only to have them delete my account on a whim. I wasnโt going to make content for them anymore.

@nomdeb @alannyta @Squirrel_767 I havenโt used Pinterest in years but it keeps flagging a poster I had saved from the movie Zardoz as inappropriate.
Your algorithm may not like it but dude thatโs Sean Connery.

@nomdeb, @Squirrel_767, oh yeah i see. I've had the same issue but not of my art (i only use pinterest to collect cute pictures lol) and it sucks not to be able to see the "problematic" post. I just wonder now if the pixel app has a similar interface as I'm just too used to pinterest.

@alannyta @Squirrel_767 I have been dumping nearly all "big tech" at least in terms of social stuff from my life. Facebook decades ago. Twitter. Instagram. LinkedIn. Pinterest. I just can't see myself enabling them any more. I'm slowing trying to rip out the remaining big tech tentacles in my life. They no longer spark joy!

@dansup love this! Lately half the things on Pinterest are AI.
