(I have 18 years' worth of piled up VST(i)s I need to check I can run before I get off windows on other hardware, which is not a small task - anyone about to suggest alternatives to the VST(I) collection should reconsider telling me to throw away all my instruments as if they were hardware)

to be clear, that's one thing I personally wouldn't do on a deck - but genuine lock-in does happen to people as well as organisations and there's no rule that says steamdecks are only for games
