    Pile onto this development. Linux!

    Lenovo is in the process of bringing a linux phone to market. Excitement high, opportunities vast. Lenovo will sell you its Windows laptops, with linux instead, a little cheaper.

    Cool.cool.cool.

    Lonovo's phone brand is Motorola.
    (I think Lenovo should sell a Lenovo branded Linux Phone too)

    TWO. Europe is getting the hell off techbro software. Linux makes this phone a must in EUROPE.

          @tragivictoria

          Big player partnering to de-google de-encruft. Its an opportunity towards personal.control and privacy, and move away from.enshittification.

          Lenovo is big enough to affect the ecosystem

          My hope (hopium) is that the Lenovo invested linux based android, is the crowbar for forcing open, the now closing Google Android window.

          Google is trying to block side loading and F-droid.

          Lenovo is partnering to de google phones, android is google encufted linux.

            @kevinrns I suspect Ireland will (continue to) do whatever it can to sabotage efforts to seperate from big tech.

              @IarfhlaithO

              Part of the reason I m hopeful is because lenovo is big. Very big. You'll be able to buy one in Ireland etc. Just as, if you choose, you can get a thinkpad with linux in Ireland. A step toward privacy, control of your box, phone.

              We have to fight to push back enshittification.

              For example
              https://www.lenovo.com/ie/en/configurator/cto/index.html?bundleId=21NXCTO1WWIE5

                @kevinrns we absolutely do. My next phone and computer will not be by any of the current crop of militarised techno-fascists. Murena and Fairphone are top of my list but I'm interested in this too.

                Edit; just noticed the prices. That's actually incredible.

                  @IarfhlaithO

                  Im not recommending one phone over another, just celebrating that it'll increase availability and mainstream de- googling of devices. This will rocket boost devices aimed at privacy, digital sovereignty.
