    Hear that? That’s what the financial side of the AI bubble popping sounds like.

    Oh boy. Mixed feelings, as this 30k folks didn't deserve that, but no sorrows for Ellison getting smacked around financially.

        Does it still count if the news is over a month old and the market is pretty much the same now?

          @Phosphenes these things unravel slowly.

          BlackRock had to pause withdrawals from at least one of their private credit funds just yesterday. Blackstone too IIRC.

            @securingdev ... or in other words: AI scraped the internet empty and new internet content became increasingly AI generated ruminated garbage (or like in the below 2023 Forbes article: "Like eating your own vomit.")

            Who could've ever imagined that? Except people who understand how AI and the internet work, of course.

            Like eating your own vomit: Blackmagic's ex-billionaire founder unleashes on AI

            Grant Petty, co-founder and disruptor-in-chief of Blackmagic Design, says AI is at its peak right now. And it's all downhill from here.

              @securingdev The collective labour of the entire planet has been milked to fund vaporware data centers, and now all the human production is just gone.

                    Amazon likely sees this as good news.

                      @securingdev

                      Opened the article wondering if I'd see something about them selling Cerner and sure enough:

                      "Apart from the layoffs, Oracle is also mulling the sale of its healthcare software unit, Cerner, which it acquired for $28.3 billion in 2022."

                      No idea who they could sell it to, but I'm sure (privately held) rival Epic's sales team is licking their collective lips.

                        @securingdev @djoerd Old wisdom has it that during a gold rush, only the people selling the pickaxes and shovels make any money -- but it seems that isn't true anymore either.

                          @djoerd Nvidia is also exposed because it is investing in companies that invest in data centers too...
