@ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite A2: Not while riding, but I was walking up the hill from the bus stop one day and this big hornet just came through the air in a big long arc out of nowhere, ran straight into the middle of my forehead, stung me instantly, and fucked off. It was like an intentional hit-and-run by a bee just because it could and I was all like YOU FUCKER

@ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite A2. The time a gnat flew into my eye and got stuck was not very interesting, but it was educational. I’ve never ridden without glasses after that.
EDIT: found the photo! The most charming experience was the time a fuzzy little SPIDER with emerald eyes decided to come for a ride on my handlebars. I tried to dissuade it, but it was determined and stuck with me for several miles. Maybe it just needed a lift? #BikeNite

@Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite A2. I've been stung by some sort of insect I think 3 times now.
Once on the chest.. some wasp-like insect (it was small, had stripes - I have the incident on video!) hit my knuckle and then tumbled onto my chest and stung me before falling off. I haven't been hit with a BB gun, but that's what I imagine the sting felt like.
I've been stung on my knee and eyelid as well, though I don't remember hitting the insect first before being stung.

@ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite A2 I had what was probably a bumblebee smack me in the face and bumble on, at least once #BikeNite

I get spiders hitchhiking like this all the time. One from a year and a half ago.
"A male Pelegrina sp. I'd guess probably Pelegrina proterva." according to someone on a spider ID group elsewhere.

@ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack #BikeNite A2 A drawback to biking in the evening for us is lots more bugs hit our face. We definitely wear protective glasses to keep them out of our eyes. @bikenite

@ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite A2. Once while in the middle of a mildly intense technical downhill, a bee flew into my helmet and started stinging me. I made it through, uncrashed.

@lopta @ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite that’s what I was wondering too

@MarkBrigham @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite @wanderinghermit I always thought the mesh was ridiculous until I heard that people actually do get stung on the head.

@ascentale @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite #BikeNite A2. Recently, I had a bee land in my mouth while I was riding and fortunately I spit her back out before she had any thought to sting me for eating her. I started carrying Benadryl after that (someone here on Bike Nite mentioned that was a good idea... I now agree, lol).
@ai6yr @Brownian_motion @MartyCormack @bikenite *in* your mouth?! Yikes!!

#BikeNite A2:
Late in the ride of "Rock n Roll the Lakes" in Albert Lea Minnesota, I was stung by a bee in the hand and it blew up like a balloon. Fortunately the nurse at the end of the ride administered Benadryl. I was a bit loopy, but the swelling subsided.
