@_L1vY_ @fsinn I suspect it just means that they're switching tactics because the pushback is stronger than expected.

                  Which is different than leaving.

"Border czar Tom Homan announces ICE's surge in Minnesota will conclude. Homan says the ICE drawdown in Minnesota is 'already underway this week, and will continue into the next week.'

A 'small footprint' will remain, he says. But Trump's ICE surge in Minneapolis is officially over. 'Operation Metro Surge is ending,' Homan says. ICE officers will be sent home.

Homan said he proposed ending the ICE surge in MN, and Trump 'has concurred.' "

@L1vY@mstdn.social Right, to start it elsewhere instead because they've used Minnesota as their proving grounds for what tactics to use next? We know their plans, this is just one phase in controlling people through terrorism.

"Incredibly powerful opinion chronicling the awfulness in Whipple and the ways it interfered with the right to counsel.

One key part of the ruling (that ICE will likely appeal ASAP); Judge Brasel bars ICE from transferring anyone out of Minnesota within 72 hours of arrest. This will have a huge impact on the availability of habeas for people who are still being arrested in Minnesota."

@_L1vY_ @ottergoose Homan is a lot smarter than Noem and Bonvino because he understands being out there so publicly grabbing, assaulting, and murdering people turns public opinion against them. I think he'll probably continue the same thing but try to keep a lower profile so people don't see the gestapo on the news every day. I think that might actually be worse than what they did in Minneapolis the last couple months

But YES they (ICE) are still in the streets, this is not an all or nothing statement or turn of events
