Finally found a barber I like.

@fesshole The idea of making sure hairdressers and cabbies do not spread unfounded lies sounds like a good idea; but in practice would be the sort of thing Reform would implements. Just accept that a lot of people are gullible fools.

Finally found a barber I like. Minimal chatting, good job, quick work and good price. Yesterday he said my recent cold was because of my Covid jabs and waffled on for 25 minutes about it. Lunacy. I can never return and have to find a new barber.
Not as awkward as finding your trusted barber, on top of being vaccine "sceptic":
- is the father of your son's new girlfriend
- is trumpism adjacent
- went to prison for gbhAnd I won't mention what his former job was, but let's say is contrary to the principles of universal human dignity.
I kept going there to avoid awkwardness between my son and his daughter, and knowing i was soon moving 5000km away anyway (it was two more haircuts after finding out).

@fesshole I've had a similar experience but with surprise racism halfway through the haircut
I am glad to report that this fall I found someone who does a great job on my hair, runs a nice clean shop, and doesn't randomly share her weird opinions about the Black women she saw when her boyfriend took her to Las Vegas (apparently they were having too much fun and had fancy manicures, which somehow offended her...come ON, if that's the worst thing you saw in Vegas, lady, you are BLESSED)

I've not had that experience with a barber, but a dentist once waited until my mouth was full of metalwork and anaesthetics before expounding at length about auras and crystal healing.

@CppGuy @Lily_and_frog @fesshole Yeah that’s the story I had of the barber I was using 20 years ago … friendly, competent, no danger, but completely loony science
So just like many taxi drivers then

@fesshole hair-raising story pal

@fesshole yep. You don’t want someone that deranged waving blades around near you.

My last barber (Eddie) died at the beginning of the covid scare. I ordered a trimmer and have been doing it myself ever since. -

@CppGuy @Lily_and_frog @fesshole I hate this but will take crystals over all the other bs these days.

The crystal and aura people though are, generally, inoffensive*. They're usually intellectually curious, but misguided. I'll take that over someone who nearly battered someone to death outside a pub.
*I say generally because it can be dangerous if they advise others to use crystals *instead* of normal cures.

@fesshole The owners of a local cafe got in the papers for violating lockdown rules to hold "superspreader parties" to "improve people's immune systems".
I never trusted their hygiene to eat there again.

@fesshole
I went to an orthopedic surgeon and he threw a fit because I was wearing a mask
Same thing, Covid is a hoax, he cured long Covid with a nicotine patch.
I complained to the hospital... he's still there. -

@fesshole yeah, hard to find good barbers. I’ve outlived 2 lately.

@fesshole I haven't had a hair cut since covid.
You might think that is a bit of an overreaction to barbers and hairdressers claiming in the early days that they were essential services like doctors and should be allowed to remain open, but fuck those covid denying nut-jobs who think that washing their hands between cuts was going to be enough to prevent an airborne aerosol from spreading.
Plus, I liked being a long haired rebel lout, and it was a great excuse.

That sucks! Hope you find a better one!
