Fantastic article from Alexander Verbeek about a train ride he once took through the "Iron Curtain," shortly after which he watched Ceausescu's sudden fall on TV. He makes some excellent points for the US and everyone trying to beat back fascism. ✊🏼

The Balcony Moment: What Ceaușescu's Last Speech Teaches Trump's America

Romania 1989 was the bloodiest revolution of the Cold War's end. What Ceaușescu's fall — and its messy aftermath — teaches Trump's America about what comes next.

Like, look what the Romanians had to contend with. Meanwhile in the US we have several thousand fuckwits in ICE, and I can tell you from personal experience they shit themselves over cat ladies with phones. Trump does not have the military at this point. People who are fighting are winning victories over the surveillance state.

We are still having elections and we are curb stomping the Guardians of Pedophiles at the polls. I am about to be protesting out in MAGAland in a taco costume and odds are good I'll be writing protest thread #102 just fine this evening.

        We can do this.
