Protest Thread #92: #Trump is a fucking bitch!
Another successful bridge protest over the interstate downtown, noisy and tons of fun! In addition to the big Ukrainian flag I always make sure we have, the usual Epstein banners, and the anti-ICE, pro-democracy stuff, we of course had an anti-war banner. We didn't have as many people on the bridge because once again there was a big anti-war protest that overlapped with ours, but it was still great to see pedestrians joining in!

Traffic on the interstate was loudly honking for us the whole time. There were a few middle fingers, and you always see the different personalities of protesters when that happens. Me? I figure the leopards will take care of them and I just ignore the idiots. That seems to be what most of the women do. But the men either flip them off back, or yell things like "FOUND THE PEDO!" which honestly is pretty funny.
The sweet, white haired lady next to me put this sticker on the bridge:

She also kindly gave me several of the stickers for direct action. I tried the website and you can virtually smack your choice of Trump or his evil tech bros, because really, fuck this whole mutiny of preverts.
It always gives me such joy, and even more motivation, to see the smiles we put on people's faces as we dance around in costumes to loud music and act like goofballs. None matter so much to me as the people of color who should be able to protest with us. We have to show up for those...

...whose right to peaceful protest is constantly being infringed. Some people chose to join in. Some just gave us big smiles, high fives or fist bumps. And the honking was deafening. I love that protesting keeps people's spirits up in addition to helping persuade some people who voted for Trump.
I've been doing more stuff with ICE watch and local efforts that-- though it's all legal-- I don't discuss on here. That stuff is more serious, though the other people are fun.

Still, I'm going to keep doing bridge protests. Protesting is important too, and honestly it's such a mood boost I'd do it anyway. Geaux be a bridge troll, it is awesome.
Onward.

Mary, what's the best current bridge sign message?

My favorite is this one from the OG bridge trolls in Paramux, NJ, the original Visibility Brigade that started it all. But there's a whole selection on the link if you can see it. Everyone is decrying the war as an attempt to get us to stop talking about Epstein.
Jessica Craven on Instagram: "Everyday Americans were out on bridges and overpasses all over the country again this weekend sounding the alarm about the Iran War and its Epstein connection. Thank you to every @visibilitybrigade member who volunteered. These messages are so important. If you’re looking for a way to help consider joining your local chapter! visibilitybrigade(dot)com."

@MaryAustinBooks today I drove from Santa Fe, NM to Rio Rancho NM, and there was a really nice saturday bridge protest halfway down I-25. Then, there were quite a few protesters outside the Tesla Dealership on U.S. 550 on the north edge of Rio Rancho. It was very encouraging to see these folks.

@timo21 That's another part of it. We know that every honk is someone who realizes they aren't alone. We love the honks! The semi horns are really loud but we go nuts every time we get one. And that happens more and more. The truckers are with us.
