Being a politically curious child of the 80’s and 90’s it seemed that politicians had personalities and opinions - even if you loathed what they stood for.

This makes me look at the #Starmer Cabinet (but also every recent Cabinet) and think:
“How incredibly dull. Is this the best talent the #Labour Party has to offer?”
Not only are their personalities muted, they have no policies.
They are blank slates for lobbyists to manipulate rather than strong minded representatives. And that matters

And I don’t think it was just Spitting Image that made me think this.
There were less career politicians certainly. There were a disproportionate number of males who were privately educated Oxbridge graduates. What’s changed?
I think politicians were expected to answer questions in a more nuanced way. Media training was less obvious and therefore the electorate was more inclined to listen.
When were you last entranced by the rhetoric of #Streeting, #Mahmood, #Reed or #Kendall ?

@JugglingWithEggs It should be frequently stated that all Starmer had to do to ascend to PM was defeat a head of lettuce. I'm afraid that he's rested on his lettuce laurels without working to do better. -
