    I'm confident that these influencers are paid so that they'll stay on message and post on command.

    Probably not directly by Republican Party in order to hide it, but some outfit that wants them in power.

    I'm wondering how much it costs and could we find an outfit willing to do this for climate action.

      @GreenFire don't. please. the ends do not justify the means because the means become the ends.

      specifically, if people trying to make the world better were to successfully use astroturf techniques to create an illusion of consensus, we'd be training everyone to just follow along with a herd mentality instead of thinking for themselves. there is absolutely no way that would be good for the world.

        The manifesto and such do not prove that the Republicans did not stage this.

        Political technologists trained by the Kremlin's experts can convince people to a lot of stupid stuff.

        Unless clear, trustworthy evidence that it wasn't staged is provided, I'm assuming it was staged to get that ballroom.
