Electricity supply in my area is not very reliable but we get lots of sunshine most of the year. Can anyone recommend good resources on solar power and battery storage - with an emphasis on the cheap side of things.

@SecondUniverse I would focus on finding a local business with experience setting solar solutions on your area. There is a lot of nuances to consider, and most of the time, it is worth it to pay someone that has already learned the how's and the whys.

@bololacertus Yes, but deciding who to trust involves knowing a little, and it is also good to know what can be suggested to keep costs down - that may not be the priority of the local business.

@SecondUniverse The batteries are a large investment. I have 6 KWh battery from #ecoflow which seems pretty feature rich. Supposedly, it will power my entire house if I wire it in that way, which I have not. I also have smaller batteries from them which I use all the time to offset using the grid.

I also have their solar panels which are not the most cost effective, but I can install them myself since all the solar companies in my city of a million people have ghosted me.

again, none of this is cheap, but watching power being captured from the sky and stored for later use makes you a believer and make a small system worth it if the grid is unstable.

I have a well and sump pump so I have this system for water management when the power is out.

if you do go that route, there are discounts available via referral which can be sizeable depending on the promotion.
